Municipal kindergartens in Pułtusk

This project takes place in two municipal kindergartens in Pułtusk, a small town in the Mazovia region. The institutions provide daily care and education to over 300 children aged 3–6, working in small groups supported by teachers.

Two volunteers are hosted in each kindergarten. Volunteers support teachers in everyday educational and care activities and become part of the daily routine of the group. The work requires consistency, responsibility and close cooperation with the teaching staff.

The role requires regular presence, reliability and active involvement throughout the entire volunteering period (10–12 months).

Volunteers take part in daily activities such as structured lessons, free play, simple educational exercises, outdoor activities, celebrations and occasional excursions. They may introduce elements of their language and culture through games, songs and small group activities, always in coordination with teachers.

The working environment is primarily Polish-speaking and the children do not speak English. The project therefore requires patience, openness and the ability to communicate in simple and creative ways. Volunteers are encouraged to learn basic Polish during their stay.

Pułtusk is a small local community with a traditional social environment. Openness, cultural sensitivity and respect for local norms are important for building good relationships within the kindergarten and the wider community.

Working hours are usually between 9:00 and 15:00 (the kindergarten is open from 6:30 to 16:30).

This project offers hands-on experience in early childhood education within a structured public institution and a local community context. It is particularly suitable for volunteers looking for long-term, steady engagement rather than a short-term experience.

VOLUNTEER PROFILE

We are looking for a person who:
- has a genuine interest in working with young children and may plan future studies or a career in education, pedagogy, psychology or related fields,
-is emotionally mature, patient and attentive,
- has a calm and balanced approach, while bringing positive energy to the group,
-understands the importance of responsibility, consistency and positive role modelling,

-is open to living in a small town and engaging with the local community,
-can provide a certificate of no criminal record (required for working with children),
- communicates in English at a communicative level.

Previous experience with children (family, volunteering, camps, school practice) is an advantage.

What our volunteers say

“It was the first time I really worked with children (not including babysitting) and I was a little bit scared, but the experience was amazing! You will learn so much”.

Ilona

France

“The project gives you the chance to meet different people and interact with multiple cultures. You also gain working experience in something that you would like to do in the future. I enjoyed it a lot”.

Anna

Italy

"In my kindergarten not all the teachers spoke English, so communication was difficult sometimes, but I ended up adapting. The same will happen with the children; it is not as difficult as it seems to communicate with them”.
